Advancing Hearing in the 21st Century

For years, Steve Wurth had a difficult time hearing his children and grandchildren on the phone. He often had trouble hearing the sermon in church and had to crank up the television volume until it drove his wife crazy.

When Wurth purchased his first hearing aids, they were some of the best available on the market. However, as technology had advanced he decided it was time to see what the Audiology and Hearing Center could do to bring his hearing into the 21st Century.

“I got my first hearing aids about 10 years ago from Dr. Milliano and it was a remarkable experience at the time,” Wurth says. “In 10 years technology has improved vastly. So I wanted to see what else was available.”

Initially, Wurth was hesitant to invest in new hearing aids. It was an expense he thought he could avoid. But, today he says the upgrade has been one of the best investments he’s ever made.

“I’m not sure who’s more excited about the improvement, my wife, my grandkids or myself,” Wurth says. “I can hear with clarity now.”

Now Wurth uses “apps” on his mobile devices to control things like the volume of the television. Phone calls are also a delight, as Bluetooth technology directs the calls into his hearing aid.

“Our office offers a 75-day trial, which allows our patients to experience new technology and evaluate the difference it makes in their life,” says Dr. Tony Milliano. “We want our patients to be completely satisfied.”
